This is a quick, small sketch (6" x 4") I did in preparation for a larger version of the painting. I thought I might ask for your advice on composition before I start the bigger version.

I'm not much of a painter (never learned technique, though trying to teach myself now since I love water-colours so much), but ... I really like how the building is so imposing but off-center, drawing the viewer's eye to the rest of the elements in the painting, especially the lamppost. Also, the two short trees (and their angles) make an interesting counterpoint to the lamppost and the tall tree pair, and their angles. That the lamppost divides the two people going in opposite directions is an interesting detail.
This is a wonderful sketch/painting. So immediate and full of soul!
